JOAO ALVES RIBEIRO It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather Joao (John) Alves Ribeiro, born March 1, 1935 in Sao Miguel, Azores, who passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2006. Joao leaves behind to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 48 years Maria Rosa; eldest daughter Maria de Conceicao (Manuel); grandchildren, Sabrina, Cristine, Joao, Alicia, Nikki; son Carlos (Marlene); grandchildren, Dyllon, Antonio, Skye, Johnathon, Adrian; youngest daughter Ivone (Kevin), grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and great-grandchild Nathan and niece April. He also leaves behind brother Jose Carlos Ribeiro (Ivone); sisters-in-law Margarida, Julia, Beatriz, Esterla, Rozarinha and all his loving nieces and nephews. Joao and his family emigrated to Canada in 1971. He was a hard working, kind hearted, forgiving, humorous man and an active Roman Catholic right up to his passing. He is extremely missed by all, but the love and memories he leaves us will be a cherished source of comfort to all in the days and years to come. He lives on forever in our hearts and his memory will always be honored. We love you. Prayers will be held on Friday, June 9 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 10 at 9:30 a.m. also at the Church. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Donations may be made in Joao's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
